“What does it mean to be Cuban?” Soandry is a
member of Hermanos De Causa, one of Cuba's most respected underground hip
hop bands. He breaks down this simple, yet convoluted question. The pages
are a walk inside the mind of a young Cuban looking back in time, in order
to understand his future. Along the way, we are introduced to rap collective,
“El Cartel”, early party spots, scraps of poetry, graffiti, conversations
on contemporary history, and pioneering characters central to Cuba's intellectual
hip hop scene.
East of Havana is a 200 page photo-heavy retrospective of top players in one
of the worlds most pure youth movements today.
